Asteatotic eczema

Asteatotic eczema is known as ‘eczema craquele’ and describes the crackled crazy paving type appearance of dry, scaled and fissured eczematous skin. It occurs exclusively in the older person, usually in winter and on the lower limbs and trunk. Asteatotic eczema is often associated with the overuse of soaps, overheating and low humidity (see Table 9.2).
