What is a labial lentigo?

Labial lentigo (labial melanotic macule) is a hyperpigmented macule that develops on the lip. Seen most commonly in young women, there is thickening of the epidermis and increased melanin in the basal keratinocytes. These typically behave in a benign fashion.
