What is a combined melanocytic nevus?

A combined melanocytic nevus is a blue nevus with an overlying melanocytic nevus. The blue nevus may be a common or cellular blue nevus. The overlying melanocytic nevus can be junctional, compound, or intradermal. This is found in 1% of all excised melanocytic nevi.
