Factors which may encourage or inhibit the performance of self-examination Skin cancer and its prevention

There is little evidence to suggest which factors may encourage individuals to perform selfexamination, for metastatic melanoma. A review of the literature on SSE, which is advocated for the detection of primary skin cancer, including melanoma, and the detection of primary melanoma, suggests that many factors may be involved. It is acknowledged that the factors which may encourage or deter an individual from performing self-examination, to detect primary disease, may be different from those involved in the detection of metastatic disease.
