What is neonatal cephalic pustulosis?

This is a recently recognized entity that may have been labeled in the past as neonatal acne. It appears during the first few days of life in both males and females with erythema, pustules, or papules mainly on the head and neck. It is thought to be an inflammatory reaction to Malassezia spp. The monomorphic appearance, absence of comedones, and the lack of a follicular distribution distinguish this entity from neonatal acne. It resolves spontaneously within one week.
