Streptococcal throat infection

It is commonly observed that throat infections, tonsillitis and pharyngitis can trigger GP; this is particularly seen in children and young adults. It is known, therefore, that streptococcal infections can lead to the onset of this specific type of the disease. The mechanism for this is thought to be the effect of superantigens released by the streptococcal bacteria activating T-cells and driving the skin to produce psoriatic lesions.
