What is “habit tic” disorder? How is it different from median nail dystrophy?
This is a common self-induced nail condition of the thumb characterized by horizontal parallel ridges in the nail plate
induced by constant manipulation of the cuticle and proximal nail fold. A closely related idiopathic condition, median
nail dystrophy, can be easily confused with the above. Median nail dystrophy is marked by a normal cuticle and an
inverted fir tree appearance to the central nail plate. |
