Taenia solium (pork tapeworm) may produce
cysticercosis cutis, which is acquired from the oral
ingestion of eggs, usually due to poor sanitary habits.
Clinically, it presents as painless subcutaneous
nodules containing the larval stage of the tapeworm.
Echinococcus granulosus, a dog tapeworm, produces
fluctuant, cystic tumors in the skin (hydatid disease)
as well as generalized hives and itching. It is
acquired from the ingestion of contaminated food or
water.
